About LOC-A-BLOC.
LOC-A-BLOC is a retaining wall construction system which was designed for Australian conditions. The original LOC-A-BLOC concept was designed in the 1990’s, with the main reason being to design a retaining wall system specifically for use in marine applications.The basic LOC-A-BLOC construction system consists of a concrete block with horizontal and vertical hexagonal cores, with a unique, coloured, pressed block in rock or smooth face, which is exclusive to the LOC-A-BLOC system.
The method of construction is the blocks are dry laid, meaning no mortar is required between the courses, and once the wall is at the desired height, the cores are then filled with concrete or gravel, depending on the engineering requirements.
There are three component sizes with distinct uses in the LOC-A-BLOC system:
